At Taicang Port in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, in recent years, as exports of new-energy vehicles have surged rapidly, the port’s export volume has also been increasing year after year. Right now, operations at the port are bustling and never-ending—let’s go together and experience the accelerating pace of “Made in China” heading overseas.
Huang Guanhua, a reporter for the CCTV News Channel: As the ship's whistle sounded, the Ro-Ro vessel "Huanghu" slowly departed from its berth at Taicang Port, escorted by a pilot boat. This marks the "Huanghu’s" maiden voyage of 2026. The ship is carrying over 2,000 new-energy vehicles of Chinese brands and is set to head toward destinations including the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Egypt.
According to the latest data from Nanjing Customs, in the just-concluded year 2025, Taicang Port’s automobile export volume exceeded 800,000 vehicles—equivalent to at least one out of every 10 cars exported nationwide last year having departed from Taicang.
As the final stop on the Yangtze River’s inland waterway, Taicang Port boasts 38 kilometers of prime shoreline and a deep-water channel exceeding 12 meters in depth. Here, vessels ranging from several-ton inland river ships to 200,000-ton ocean-going vessels can all dock. Cars produced in Chongqing, Hubei, and Anhui are loaded onto these ships and then sent downstream along the Yangtze River, where they are gathered at this port before being transferred to larger vessels for global shipment.
